On Child Birth
I believe that God created the heavens and the earth in six days. During this time, He designed child birth and in the past six thousand years, man has yet to untangle the intricacies of His six-day creation. It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter (Proverbs 25:2). I believe pregnancy and birth work as God designed and are normal occurrences though we do not fully understand them. In the majority of women, the need for medical intervention is small and homebirth is a safe and responsible option.
Though I believe that pregnancy and birth are normal, I have a stronger belief in the God-ordained responsibility of the parents. The choice of where birth should take place and the multitude of other non-emergency decisions surrounding the birth must be a parental decision. The parents should make these decisions after they consider the advantages and disadvantages surrounding the issue and reach an informed consent. Both parents must agree on these decisions.
Furthermore, I believe each woman deserves as much modesty, respect, and dignity as possible during the birth process and I will do my best to protect and respect her wishes during this special time in her life.
